Behind Door # 1

MThe little 5 x 10 space that once was part of an oddly shaped bedroom was converted into a computer room / office about 15 years ago.  It has evolved into a craft room and storage for extra paper goods for the household.  

We got this little chalkboard as part of a set a couple of years ago at an auction.The  larger one goes with our old toys Christmas theme, and this finally one found a home!  

The doors are basic bifold doors but  the plain wooden knob just wouldn't do. Here's what you do with a random antique yard sale doorknob. 

Man of the House

Turned the manroom into an office.  New flooring, did some fishing decor, and hung one of the deer hides along the back of the desk

Faux fireplace in our Texas themed master bedroom... Decorated for the Christmas season.

Our neighbor across the street left us a phone message telling us that this year's yard decor was "simple but elegant."

A - Door - Able

These are some old pantry doors that we got at a church garage sale.  I framed the boys senior photos in some silver frames that I bought at the dollar store.  Then we attached the boys' engraved Gerber baby spoons next to their pictures. 
 
 

Light It Up

Got this fabulous lamp at an auction for $50! 
We plan to put a leather-look shade on it instead of the copper star shade that came with it.

Egg Nog Pancakes

Update - photos of our Christmas pancakes.

 

This is as close of a copycat recipe as we could get to the IHOP Eggnog Pancakes that we ate before Thanksgiving. 

Pancakes
Syrup
Whipped Cream
Eggnog Cream (recipe below)
Nutmeg & Chopped nuts for garnish

Eggnog Cream Recipe
Eggnog
Instant pudding (we used cheesecake flavor, but french vanilla or vanilla might be a little less rich)
Mix the pudding mix with as much eggnong as the mix calls for.  We used 2 cups of eggnog instead of 2 cups of milk for the small package instructions.

Slather the pancakes with the eggnog cream, drizzle with syrup.  Top with whipped cream and garnish with chopped nuts and nutmeg.
