Dining chairs after - painted white &

Inspired - updated 2023

Went to Burnet yesterday and saw a sign for a yard sale. When we got there, this sweet lady was
selling her absolutely adorable house and many of the cute little yard things in it. Jesse refused to "buy me everything" so I had to settle for an enamelware trashcan for the guest bath, an old bed headboard and footboard to make a "flower bed," and a clawfoot bathtub (with the feet missing) for 20 bucks! I'm thinking I will make a planter out of it for the yard. I also got some great pictures of her yard -- wonderful ideas. She invited us back next week when they are having open house so I can see the inside, too!

The fence with the flower bed and plates in front of it has to be my favorite!

She also had an old

bicycle

(I have a few of those around here, thanks to Justin!)
that she leaned against the telephone pole in the front and
made planters out of the baskets. The picture didn't turn out, though :(

*What a difference 8 years makes -- this house is exactly at the intersection of the streets that the Verandas and the Cottage are on!  This is now OUR NEIGHBOR!

Sitting Pretty

Grandma Lila's needlework pillow looks a bit like cabbage roses and works perfectly in the sewing chair in the Pantry / Sewing Room.

inherited -- if I find this in the shed I want to put it at the cottage

Off the Wall

When you can't find exactly the wallpaper border that you want, you MAKE some!  That's right...I printed some vintage toiletries pictures onto Manila paper, cut it to the width I needed, and covered it with clear Contact paper to waterproof it.  Custom wallpaper border that didn't really cost anything because I already had what I needed around the house!

T V Rewind

Here is the spot next to the window by the entry hall.

The Hoffman 1950s television came from B's Aunt Boodie
The feed sack picture was bought at an antique store on Main Street.
We got black "chair" at an auction and found a white and black enamelware pan to go underneath it at an antique store in Fredericksburg.

Added a needlepoint rooster chair pad from an auction box lot. (Love box lots!)
Finished off the chair with a patchwork pillow made bu S's great grandmother.

Texas Vignette

The top of the chest of drawers in the master bedroom.

This Indian painting was done by J's aunt Gail.

Little buffalo statuette was inherited from J's parents. The five books on the bottom were gifts from various family members or flea market and garage sale finds.

Antique American Indian book has an inscription dated in the 1900s. It was a gift from S's mother.

Taxidermy Armadillo. Another inherited piece from J's parents.  We got the rock   / Grinding stone at an auction.

Brass armadillo ashtray. Belonged to J's parents.

S's cannon.
