What's White and Won't Fit on the Back of a Motorcycle?

Jesse talked me into riding on the back of his motorcycle over to the next town.  While we were there I talked HIM into stopping at a garage sale/thrift store type place.  And this is what we found!!!!!!!!!!! Had to get Justin to drive the truck out to us to load it up and get it home, though.  It has the flour bin in the top and a potato bin drawer in the bottom.  It is missing the roll-top door/front but I think I can wait to get it replaced or fixed because I kinda like it open so I can put stuff on display.  Since we got it home, I also have finally found a simple black wine rack for 2 bucks (!) at the library thrift store -- exactly like what I wanted.  Jesse went and bought me 4 bottles of cheap $3 wine to put in it.... well, now we're down to 3 bottles of cheap $3 wine.... but I'll have to post a picture of it on top of the cabinet -- it is perfect!

Music of Thanksgiving

I'm really in a holiday mood today.  Here is a Thanksgiving Music playlist made from YouTube videos.

Great Thanksgiving Page

I love Annie's Holiday Pages!  So many ideas and fun things!  Thought I would post a link to the Thanksgiving page since today was my first visit to it this year.

Chair-ies

Here is the sort-of slipcover that I made for the craft room chair. It is just a plain rolling office chair and I took some of the Mary Engelbreit fabric that I had left from the pink room before it was pink and made a simple cover. Kind of dim and grainy but you get the idea (camera phone, you know).

Rub a Dub Dub

The non-footed clawfoot bathtub we bought for 20 bucks at a yard sale. It has a Halloween theme right now.

Pretty in Pink

This is one of those finds that I wasn't expecting to find. After a severely disappointing trip to the flea market, we stopped at a thrift store to look around for a bit, and I found almost exactly the quilt I wanted for the pink room. I wanted a patchwork rag quilt, but I will settle for just patchwork. It is almost perfect. I also got the pink pillow case and the ivory lace pillow. The headboard is a piece of iron fencing that we got on our little summer getaway trip. It is hard to see with the lighting, but the curtain in the window is actually my wedding veil. On the wall to the left is Jesse's baby quilt. The pink and ivory water can on the floor beside the bed was the water can that my mother-in-law and her brothers used when they were picking cotton as kids.

I'm also posting a picture of the pink chair that we got at an indoor flea market a few months ago.... I still need to paint the wooden part with some off-white to age it, but it is a nice color upholstery.

Bottled Up

This is the type of label and jar that I would like to use in the guest bath. Or maybe in all the baths. This picture is from MyPrimCottage.

The Big Screen

U.S. Fence & Yard at Lowe's: 32"W x 46"H Vinyl Utility Screen

We decided we needed some kind of screen at the corner of the house to conceal the dumpster and the recycling bin next to the driveway. Saw some similar screens to this at Home Depot, but I think I am going to look for one with this design because the shape of the top is similar to the curve of the address plate that we got. Probably will leave the spider lilies in front of it so there will be some bright green to coordinate with the house!

Don't Let the Screen Door Hit You

Screen Tight at Lowe's: 30" Vinyl Screen Door

Hemmed and hawed over a new screen door for the front. Didn't want one of those full-glass monstrosities like we had before. I WANTED one like this, but they were so expensive. Noticed a clearance at a local store and on a whim, went over to see if they had anything CLOSE to this kind of scrollwork that I could live with. The remodeling gods were smiling on me that day! To get what I want AND have it on sale??? It is already on our newly painted front door. I couldn't wait!

A Path to Your Door

Clay Paver Bricks versus Concrete Brick Pavers | Home Walkway Patio Construction

This is a great idea for the path from the driveway to the front door (have to go around that big tree!). We already have the concrete form to make this pattern.

Have a Heart

Cute idea for a pillow from MyPrimCottage. I think I have enough of the red/white ticking left that I could make a pillow like this for Valentine's day -- or maybe even to leave it out year-round?

Holiday Checklist: 12-

December

10 sprigs pine - in kitchen accessories & knick-knacks
2 cookie cutters with bows - on end walls of kitchen
poinsettia rug - in front of stove

candy cane rug - by back door
plush red/white tree skirt - on deep freezer
3 plush red/white santa hats - on wall by louvre doors
felt red/white santa hat - on ironing board
plush red/white stocking - on door/window casing
3 red bows - on washboard, on old iron, on water pitcher
red/white star - above back door

Log Cabin

Debfin33 on Rate My Space did this faux finish log cabin wall in her laundry room. I am thinking about doing it in our room and our bathroom. Or what if I did this in our laundry room???? That striped wallpaper is getting pretty worn, and I haven't thought of anything in particular as a replacement.

Laundry Layout

This laundry room from gabby0908 made me think about how to do more decorating on my laundry room - get rid of the clothes rod above the washer and put the small one back beside the dryer where it doesn't show if the doors are open. I also think I need a few more wall decorations in there - maybe an old-fashioned hang-dryer and a little wooden ironing board. I also plan to hang a little clothesline above the back door and clip some black and white or sepia photos to it with clothespins.

It's Curtains

I finally found a picture of mini-blinds in a prim style room. This is how MillCreekPrimitives on Rate My Space did hers.
I need to find a set of curtains to go on the lower half of the dining room and living room.
